Who? What?

                                    -Welcome to Tiger Lily-

Hi! I secretly have always wanted to create a blog so today is the day! This is a place for me to share my love for fashion that starts way back to my childhood. Although I also plan to share everyday life and thoughts. Even the sad ones.

My roots of fashion

Ever since I was a little girl, I felt that fashion was a part of me—that it followed me everywhere I went.  Having two older sisters who are ten and eight years older than me exposed me to fashion at such an early age. My oldest sister,  Jordan, who was “Miss Popular,” wore trendy and chic clothes everyday for school. My other sister, Taylor, who was on the shyer and more reserved side would wear more casual clothes everyday. Living at home with these two different aesthetics was when started to become more intrigue with fashion.

Reflecting back on how my love for fashion awoke as a child, the factor that drew me in the most was the self-expression I found in fashion. I realized that my sisters were showing their personality's through  the clothing they chose to wear.

After finding an interest in fashion is when I begun experimenting with my clothing. Personally as an eight/ten year old I think I did a pretty good job using creativity in creating outfits—although I do think my mother would disagree. The memories of me finding my personal style at a young age consist of me cutting up shirts, wearing tall socks that were colorful and odd (I presented it as “my thing”), and using arts and craft naturals as accessories.

When I got to middle school was when I started to not care what anyone thought about my outfits. I would come up with an aesthetic in my head and simply go for it. One day I was dressing as a hippie and the next I looked goth. I truly think that my middle school years show the orgian of my love for fashion. At the end of 8th grade I was in the running for best dressed in my middle school, which defiantly  boosted my confidence, knowing that my peers admired my clothes.

What the roots have grown

Now that I am much older I feel I have a more determined style—although I can surprise myself sometimes with a bold or unconventional outfit . My style and interest for fashion now 100% comes from confidence. No one that I knew in middle school and high school ever visibly experimented with their style which shows that I was confident enough to express myself even when my peers weren’t. I still live with that mentality and continue to push for uniqueness.
